My name is Alan W. Scott, I make handcrafted heirloom Jewelry Boxes, Humidors and Valets using beautiful exotic woods found throughout the world.

The beauty and character of these one of a kind boxes will bring enjoyment for many years to come. Each Box is handmade with craftsman joinery and solid woods and with proper care will last for many generations.

In today's throw-a-way society there are still some things that represent old-world values and the type of craftsmanship that can be passed down from generation to generation.

Do not be fooled by cheap, mass-produced imported boxes. My boxes are not made from veneer covered press board. Look closely at some of those boxes and humidors, with their "fine lacquered" finishes and you will find that their beauty is literally only skin deep. This is because the fine wood that they use is really just a veneer glued to another type of wood. While this is an accepted method, and sometimes the only method of using extremely rare woods, it is not a sign of quality when used as a standard method of production.

One final word on finishes. The lacquered finish so common among humidors today was once a rare sign of quality. Without modern advancements in chemicals, It was a difficult, time-consuming and toxic finish to use. Now days it just isn't that difficult and as you no-doubt have seen, that look has become common. I prefer to retain the look, feel and warmth of the actual woods used in my boxes, therefore I finish most of them with a simple hand rubbed oil mixture and a fine paste wax. This is not a maintenance free finish, nor does it have the "plastic=like" durability and feel of more modern finishes, but it allows the beauty of the wood to show, age and shine. With proper care, fine wood creations finished in this manner will last for generations to come.
